The IOT is poised to revolutionize the way we gather information and interact with our environment. This revolution expresses itself by an increasing amount of wireless connected devices. Most of these devices require localization to enable certain applications or provide context to information. This poses a unique problem due to the large number of devices and large plurality of wireless technologies. Hence, the IOT requires a scalable solution to the localization problem without the need to alter the hardware and software, i.e. unobtrusive localization. In this presentation, we discuss several of these obtrusive/unobtrusive localization systems and how they can be used to enable localization in the IOT.
